For many years, infection prevention and control was a “cottage industry” where healthcare facilities’ Infection Preventionist training varied widely, often resulting ineffective prevention programs.
In 1996, Infection Prevention and Management Associates (IP&MA) was founded by Virginia Kennedy and Bonnie Barnard with the mission to change the way infection preventionists are trained – and infection prevention is practiced – across multiple care settings.
-
Work
IP&MA develops infection prevention programs and systems that can be implemented in facilities across the continuum of care—significantly impacting patient outcomes, health, and safety—while building on process, collaboration, and targeted action.
-
Focus
IP&MA also focuses on developing high performing infection preventionists. Our training programs assist early career and advancing IPs through knowledge and competency development, application of skills in practice, mentor support, and preparation.
30
YEARS
Over the past three decades, IP&MA has trained more than 200 Infection Preventionists, who are impacting patient safety and the health of their communities.
