Kelley Boston is an infection prevention expert, renowned for her track record of success in managing and advancing IP programs across diverse healthcare settings. With a focus on strategic leadership, clear communication, and innovative strategies, she consistently drives positive outcomes by prioritizing performance improvement and sustained change.
Ms. Boston brings a background in public health and epidemiology to her infection prevention practice. She holds a Master of Public Health from The University of Texas Health Science Center Houston School of Public Health and did her undergraduate work at The University of Texas at Austin. She holds certifications in infection prevention and control (CIC), healthcare quality (CPHQ), is a Six Sigma Green Belt (CSSGB) and is recognized as a Fellow of the Association for Professionals in Infection Control and Epidemiology (FAPIC).
Her experience spans the continuum of care, from solo IP to leadership roles in multi-facility systems that have included community hospitals to major academic teaching centers, and specialized areas including pediatrics, transplant, trauma, and behavioral health. Notably, she was honored as an APIC Hero of Infection Prevention in 2016 for her pivotal role in integrating and developing programs within a large multi-facility healthcare system, resulting in significant and sustained improvements in infection outcomes. She is an active member of community public health and professional organizations, and has served in leadership roles at both local and national levels. She has contributed her expertise as a president and board member of multiple local Association for Professionals in Infection Control and Epidemiology (APIC) chapters and has served at national level through her involvement in the Communications Committee and as the lead clinical editor of the APIC Text of Infection Control and Epidemiology. She is currently a board member and the legislative advocacy representative for the Houston APIC chapter.
She advocates for infection prevention, healthcare safety and public health through community health advocacy action and science communication activities.
