Environmental and Process Surveillance Support

In order to prevent healthcare associated infections, organizations must ensure that healthcare providers are providing evidence-based care in a safe care environment. Observations of care processes and audits of the care environment can provide data on opportunities for change or intervention and can support healthcare teams in addressing care challenges through performance improvement activities.

IP&MA can help your team identify process monitoring opportunities and provide and train them on tools to monitor care processes and communicate opportunities effectively to providers and clinicians.

Many organizations use a ”secret shopper” method for gathering data on hand hygiene , PPE compliance or other frequently occurring infection prevention and control behaviors. It can be a challenge to keep staff from becoming aware of this surveillance and changing their behaviors under observation.
